The Dynamics of Whanaungatanga (Relationships)

The Dynamics of Whanaungatanga (DoW) is a values-based framework developed in 1992 by Pā Henare Tate (PhD).

Drawing on the lived experiences and wisdom of kaumātua and kuia from across Aotearoa, this program offers a systematic approach for applying traditional Māori concepts, principles and knowledge of spirituality, well-being and relationships in a contemporary world.

DoW embodies the essence of whanaungatanga—the practice of building, maintaining, and restoring meaningful relationships, as being the key to happiness and success in life, and provides a framework for applying its 8 DoW Principles of Whanaungatanga as a way to strengthen relationships and enhance well-being in all areas of life.

The DoW Purpose and Goal of Life, in everything we do is to:
Address, Enhance, and Restore the Tapu (sacredness and well-being)

of Tāngata (people), so they have the Mana (power and confidence)
to fulfil
their Roles and achieve their Goals in life.
